Hendersonville Medical Center to offer Public CPR Certification Class

HENDERSONVILLE, TN, February 20, 2007- If someone you know needed help, would you know what to do?  Each year, an estimated 250,000 Americans die from cardiac arrest before they even reach a hospital. Since about 75 to 80 percent of all cardiac arrests occur in the home, learning cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) could literally mean the difference between the life and death of a friend or a loved one.

For that reason, Hendersonville Medical Center is offering CPR certification training to the general public on Thursday, March 1 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. in the Community Room at the hospital. 

“CPR training is an invaluable skill that could someday save someone’s life,” said Cindy Thompson, CPR Instructor for Hendersonville Medical Center.

This course will train individuals to overcome any reluctance to act in an emergency and to recognize and treat respiratory, cardiac, and medical emergencies in adults. The participant will learn Adult CPR and the use of the defibrillator along with basic first aid.  Certification is provided to participants at the end of this course upon successfully completing the written examination and skills demonstrations.
